Our Troop has an appointed group of Committee members who help to serve, govern, manage, and lead the Troop. Each member has a specific role to play in making sure that the Troop activities, events, finance, equipment, religious well-being, and Scout advancement system work smoothly and create an enjoyable Scouting experience.
Here are the committee positions and the appointed members who serve in those positions:
Scoutmaster: Mr. Peter, Chan
The Scoutmaster, also known as the Scout Leader or Unit Leader, is mainly responsible for developing a program for the Troop, organizing Troop meetings, planning activities, and ensuring smooth operations of the Troop's administration. He is usually seen as the facilitator as he brings about positive influence around the Troop.
Troop Committee Chairperson: Mr. Jon, Ronning
The Troop Committee Chairperson is the leader of the Troop and the Troop Committee in the execution of its operations. He maintains the partnership with the Far East Council, interprets policies to the troop, calls for special meetings if necessary, and assists the Scoutmaster in overseeing smooth operations of the Troop activities.
Troop Secretary/ Membership Chair / Adult Webmaster:
The Troop Secretary oversees all administrative functions of the Troop. He keeps track of the minutes of meetings, handles publicity, and sends out announcements and Committee meeting notices. He is also responsible for updated membership rolls as well as maintaining the troop website with the troop webmaster.
Troop Rank Advancement Chair: Ms. Esther, Tan
The Troop Rank Advancement Chair (and Assistant) is primarily responsible for encouraging Scouts to advance in rank, organize Board of Reviews, overseeing the coordination of the Court of Honors, maintaining a merit badge counselor list, and signing off Merit Badge Applications when Scouts have completed a Merit Badge.
Troop Treasurer: Ms. Kae, Yoshino
The Troop Treasurer manages all of the finances of the Troop. She handles the troop funds, maintains the savings and checking accounts, develops the Troop Budget, and keeps a record of the expenses of the Troop.
Troop Equipment Officer:
The Troop Equipment Officer acts as a Quartermaster in ensuring that the Troop Equipment is in good shape, and works with the Troop Treasurer to purchase needed resources. He maintains the storage room and ensures that proper storage of the equipment is executed, and makes periodic safety checks on all troop camping gear.
Troop Outdoor Activities Chair:
The Troop Outdoor Activities Coordinator helps in securing permission to use camping sites, organizing a monthly outdoor program, promoting attendance at Troop Campouts, and other events and activities.
Troop OA Adult Representative:
The Adult Troop OA Representative represents that Troop in all OA-related matters. He acts as the main liaison between the OA Clan and the Troop, and assists the Youth OA Representative.
Troop Chaplain:
The Troop Chaplain is mainly responsible for maintaining a healthy spiritual well-being of the Troop. He meets the needs of all religions of the Troop, and leads devotion and worship at Camp outs.
STEM/NOVA Chair:
The STEM/NOVA Chair integrates the STEM/NOVA program into the Troop. He encourages Scouts to participate in the STEM/NOVA activities and ensures that Scouts that do participate are on the right track. He provides the resources for the STEM/NOVA program and makes sure that it is working under smooth operations.
Life-To-Eagle Coordinator:
Assists Life Scouts in transitioning to the Eagle Rank. This includes helping them fulfill their merit badge requirements, coaching them through the eagle project and preparing them for their eagle board of review.
Adult Leader: Mr. Jerry Nichols
The adult leaders are responsible for keeping the troop running smoothly and making sure everybody stays focused and on task. Adult leaders are extremely important.
